Begin at Baodingshan in the afternoon: watch the immersive 8K Dome Film Dazu Rock Carvings to grasp the full narrative of this UNESCO treasure, then walk through the cliffside with your guide, deciphering the intricate sutra stories carved into stone over 800 years ago.
As night falls, head to Beishan – the “Night Tour of the Grottoes” transforms the illuminated statues into a dreamscape. Stroll along the moonlit corridor, where delicate Tang and Song dynasty carvings glow softly, revealing details invisible by day and evoking the spiritual atmosphere of ancient pilgrims.
Schedule
13:00 – Depart from Jiazhou Road Metro Station.
14:30 – Arrive at the Baodingshan Rock Carvings. Begin by watching the immersive 8K Dome Film “Dazu Rock Carvings”, followed by visiting the UNESCO World Heritage Site with a deep explanation.
18:00 – Dinner (at your own expense).
19:30 – Visiting the Beishan Rock Carvings. Explore the illuminated grottoes and experience the unique charm of the ancient cliff carvings at night.
21:00 – Depart from Beishan Rock Carvings.
22:30 – Arrive at Jiazhou Road Metro Station. Tour ends.
Notes
Preparation: Wear comfortable walking shoes. Don’t forget sunscreen for the afternoon, a power bank, and your camera.
Health & Safety. The stone steps at both sites can be uneven – watch your footing, especially after dark. Stay with your guide during the night visit; some areas have limited lighting.
Visiting Rules. No flash photography inside the caves (to protect the pigments). Do not touch or lean on the carvings. At Beishan, follow the designated illuminated path – do not stray into unlit sections.
Diet. Dinner is not included. You may bring snacks or purchase dinner at local restaurants near Baodingshan before departure.
Insurance. Organized by a licensed event organiser. Please provide accurate ID information for insurance.
