Wuzhen is a quintessential Chinese water town, over 1,300 years old, with its eastern section offering the most authentic and well-preserved experience. Visitors can stroll along stone pathways, cross numerous small stone bridges, and peer into traditional homes and workshops that line the canals. The East Bank is known for its living history, where locals still practice ancient crafts like indigo cloth dyeing, winemaking, and wood carving. It's a place where the pace slows down, and the atmosphere of old China feels wonderfully alive.

A UNESCO World Heritage site, West Lake has been a cultural icon for centuries, celebrated by countless poets and painters. Its beauty lies in the harmonious blend of shimmering waters, lush hills, ancient pagodas (like Leifeng and Baochu), and elegant causeways built by revered poets. The lake is dotted with islands, including the famous "Three Pools Mirroring the Moon." A cruise offers the perfect vantage point to absorb this landscape, which has appeared on the back of China's one-yuan banknote.

Lingyin Temple, meaning "Temple of the Soul's Retreat," is one of the largest and wealthiest Buddhist temples in China, with a history spanning over 1,600 years. Nestled among forested hills, its halls and pagodas exude a sense of profound peace. In front of the temple lies Feilai Feng (Flying Peak), a limestone cliff adorned with nearly 500 exquisite Buddhist stone carvings dating from the Five Dynasties to the Yuan Dynasty, making it a grotto art treasure of national significance.

Nestled in the hills southwest of West Lake, Longjing Village is the heart of China's most famous green tea—Dragon Well tea. With a history of over 1,200 years, the village is surrounded by neatly terraced tea fields that turn vibrant green in spring. A visit here is a sensory experience: walking among the tea bushes, watching skilled workers roast tea leaves in traditional woks, and savoring a freshly brewed cup of this exquisite, nutty-flavored tea in a local home or teahouse.
