Itinerary
Arrival in Chengdu. Our driver will hold a welcome sign at the airport or train station and transfer you to your hotel. The rest of the day is free for you to relax and explore on your own.
Breakfast at the hotel. Meet your guide and driver.
Chengdu Panda Base: The Chengdu Research Base of Giant Panda Breeding is the premier facility for seeing giant pandas in their naturalistic habitat. Located just 10 kilometers from downtown, this breeding center is home to over 100 giant pandas and red pandas. Visitors can observe pandas at different life stages—from tiny, pink newborns in the nursery to playful juveniles and adults leisurely eating bamboo or sleeping in trees. The lush, park-like setting features bamboo groves, enclosures designed to mimic wild conditions, and a museum explaining panda biology and conservation efforts.

Wenshu Monastery: Wenshu Monastery is Chengdu's best-preserved Buddhist temple, dating back over 1,000 years to the Tang Dynasty. Despite being in the city center, its halls and gardens offer a tranquil escape where locals come to pray and burn incense. The monastery houses over 300 Buddha statues and valuable cultural relics, including paintings, calligraphy, and ancient scriptures. Visitors can explore five main halls in sequence, each with its own architectural character and spiritual significance.

People's Park: People's Park showcases Chengdu's famous leisure culture in its most authentic form. Locals gather here daily to practice calligraphy on the ground with water brushes, dance in groups, play traditional instruments, and socialize. The century-old Heming Tea House is the perfect spot to sip local green tea, watch mahjong games, or experience traditional ear cleaning—a true taste of slow-paced Chengdu life that has earned the city its reputation as a place where people know how to relax.

Jinli Old Street: Jinli Old Street is a vibrant pedestrian street reconstructed in the style of Qing Dynasty architecture, designed to evoke the atmosphere of the ancient Shu Kingdom. Lined with red lanterns, wooden facades, and traditional storefronts, it offers a lively mix of souvenir shops, handicraft stalls, and food vendors. Visitors can browse intricate Shu embroidery, folk art, and calligraphy, or sample Sichuan snacks like spicy tofu pudding, dan dan noodles, and sweet glutinous rice balls. The street comes alive in the evening with glowing lanterns and bustling crowds.

Breakfast at the hotel. Meet your guide and driver. Depart for Leshan (approx. 2 hours).
Leshan Giant Buddha: The Leshan Giant Buddha is a UNESCO World Heritage site and the largest stone Buddha statue in the world. Carved into a cliff face at the confluence of the Min, Qingyi, and Dadu rivers, construction began in 713 AD during the Tang Dynasty and took 90 years to complete. The 71-meter-tall statue depicts Maitreya Buddha with solemn expression, detailed hair curls, and ears 6.2 meters long. Each of its feet is large enough for 100 people to sit on. Visitors can climb the Nine-bend Plank Road beside the Buddha for close-up views or take a boat cruise to see the entire statue and appreciate the saying: "The mountain is a Buddha, and the Buddha is a mountain."

Boat trip: For a panoramic view of the entire Buddha, experiencing how "the mountain unveils a Buddha, while the Buddha fades into the mountain."
After the tour, return to Chengdu (approx. 2 hours). Drop-off at your hotel. Evening free.
